Miles went to Concord with me.  Miles was a quiet boy and very sweet. Here is his obituary.

Miles Brown, 72 of Westfield, Iowa, passed away on Monday, June 1, 2020 at Unity Point Health – St. Luke’s Hospital in Sioux City, Iowa.

A private Memorial Service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Rexwinkel Funeral Home in Akron. Expressions of sympathy may be expressed to the family through www.rexwinkelfh.com.

Miles Thomas Brown was born on May 9, 1948 to William and Katharine (Spaulding) Brown in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He was raised in Edina, Minnesota and graduated from Edina High School in 1966. Miles attended the University of Minnesota for a time before enlisting in the United States Navy. After being honorably discharged, he continued his education at the University of Minnesota. He then moved to Westfield, Iowa where he began farming. Miles was united in marriage to Rhonda Jane Swisher on October 26, 1974 in Minnesota and they made their home in Westfield, Iowa. Miles farmed for ten years before beginning a career at Wells Dairy in Le Mars, Iowa. Miles first worked in the mix department and later worked in product research and development. Miles designed the flavor ‘Huckleberry’ for Wells Blue Bunny. After 29 years, Miles retired from Wells due to his health.

Miles was a member of the United Methodist Church and was active as a lay minister. He loved writing sermons and sharing the word of God with others. He also used this avenue to volunteer with hospice patients. Miles loved model trains and caffeine free Diet Coke. Miles enjoyed spending time outside while mowing his yard and visiting his brother Rod in Alaska. He was an avid reader and loved to watch movies; he preferred history/action movies and the TV shows NCIS and The West Wing. Miles had a beloved dog, Max, who he trained to be a certified therapy dog; they would visit nursing homes, hospitals, and college campuses.

Miles is survived by his wife, Rhonda Brown; son, Richard (Kristy) Brown of Johnston, Iowa; grandchildren: Carson Brown, Cael Brown, and Alexis Johnson; brothers: Rod (Jean) Brown of Wrangell, Alaska, and Jeff (Martha) Brown of Maple Plain, Minnesota; and nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

Miles is preceded in death by his parents, William and Katharine Brown; grandparents, Miles and Grace Spaulding; and daughter, Meggann Brown.
