Wayne wasn't part of the "in" crowd at Edina, but was a nice guy who gave his life after serving in Vietnam. He returned home with a number of critical injuries no one should have to endure. I picked him up to have lunch at a local Legion Hall after he returned and he passed away shortly after. It would be nice to recognize those who gave their life in the service of our country with a flag next to their name in the memorial section. If you know of other's please let it be known.

I also remember Wayne as kind of gentle giant.  I've thought of him lately and wished that I had reached out to him as a friend, as I wasn't in the "in crowd" either.  Vietnam was hard on everybody, especially those that served.  They should have been respected when they came home and were not - very, very sad.

Weezy, you could not have said it better!!  I remember Wayne as a quiet, gentle man....not in the "in crowd" and neither was I.  Looking back on the Vietnam war, it just seemed like a war of sadness....our "boys" of 19 going over there and fighting and then coming home to rude people condemning them for doing what they thought was right.  Even with the draft!!  They were BRAVE men!

I can't recall Wayne. Maybe a face in the '66 year book would jog my memory. However, I do remember classmate David Peterson. He was possibly our first classmate to die after graduation. I didn't know David personally, but it always made me feel sad that he died at such a young age... for NOTHING!

RIP~

I didn't know Wayne, but remember his name.   It was very hard to add in the names of all of the deceased people onto this site.  Whether you knew them or just recognize the name, it is a sad thought that all of them died too young.  Just by taking a moment to remember them and talk about them is a good commemorative!

Back in the day, Wayne, Garry Rudd, Jon Hermann and I brewed up a batch of beer at Wayne's house. We carefully stashed it in Wayne's attic for "safe keepig." A few days later, the four of us were standing in the hallway at Wayne's talking with Wayne's mom when we heard overhead a "Pop", followe by more pops. We were soon getting dripped on by warm beer! Pretty tough to talk our way out of that one! Rest in peace Wayne. You too, Garr and Jon.
