Carol was a happy & vibrant person....she always had a smile on her face! I knew her in HS, but really got to know her when we reconnected at the U of M. I have happy thoughts of our trip to CA when we were 19 and our friendship throughout our lives. A happy memory to share is that she had 3 westies that she used to walk around Bredesen Park and Normandale Park with her Mother, Jean. She was diagnosed with lung cancer in April of 2009 and died in July of that year....never smoked! 3 of her good friends get together every year in October for a weekend getaway & to toast her memory. We miss her.
This morning when I read the post about Carol my heart sunk. I have not seen Carol since the summer of graduation and seeing her sweet face immediately reminded me how very important she was in my life as a new kid in school senior year. Her kindness, happy nature and sensitivity to befriend me and introduce me to her friends are the absolute highlight of my Edina H.S. experience. Thank you, Carol Jean Maund, for being one of the heroes in my life.
This will be the first reunion I attend and I will show up in your honor. Love, Carol Jean Riley
