My memories of Jon are all favorable and we got to know each other when we carpooled to the U of MN in 1967, mostly in Jon's VW Beetle, of which he was mighty proud.
Jon introduced me to what in his mind was the greatest part-time school job ever: Being the night custodians at some big tech firm near Londonderry Rd & Hwy 169 (County Road 18 then). He liked the fact that nobody ever bugged him and he was free to clean the place according to his schedule. I guess we were of different temperaments: I lasted just one night - four hours - and quit the next day. Emptying waste baskets and ashtrays (remember those?), and polishing endless hallways just wasn't my thing. I much preferred the job at the Edina Shell at 50th & Halifax where there was always something going on and lots of interacting with people.
In any event, Jon was the 'salt of the earth' kind of guy!
